After a long flight from a chicago we wanted to eat some good sushi here in California. Bubba found this great gem near our hotel so off we went! The location is in a strip mall, so there was plenty of parking. We signed on a digital tablet to text us when it's our turn to eat. The place is very small we were here around 6pm and it was packed and a few folks waiting outside on the benches... along the benches they also had heating lamps as there's no room to wait inside so when it gets chilly here at night they turn them on cool heated flames. They also had copies of their menu to review and since there was 40 ppl waiting ahead of us to it was 40-45 minutes for the 3 of us. We enjoyed sitting a bit and circling what we wanted to order. Once hubby got a text alert we were seated in a nice booth...I love booths to dine in. They were even able to accommodate a large group. When there's Japanese chefs making the dishes and Asians eating here you KNOW it's a good place to eat! Here is what we ordered: all good we would order again! Appetizers: Salmon grilled jowls appetizer - was so good limited Amount I think we got the last batch. So worth it fatty soft smoky flavors with a ponzu sauce with thinly sliced rice vinegar pickled cucumber. Will get again! Chicken cutlet was served hot chicken breast with sweet teriyaki sauce drizzle. Tempura crunch light chicken will get again Soft crab appetizer - a whole crab 4 sliced pieces lightly battered so tasty not only or too breaded Vegetable tempura had nice pieces like sweet potatoes, acorn squash, etc. Main dishes: Sea Scallop sushi seasoned was sweet and fresh Salmon sushi season was fresh and light soy season Salmon teriyaki bento box came with smoky grilled salmon fillet with skin, fresh spring salsa, white rice and miso soup. Spicy tuna with shrimp tempura crunch roll was good, had even or more protein than sushi rice Udon noodles tempura came with two shrimp tempura with yellow pickled dicon slices nice amount of udon noodles and broth. I love the thinly slices of green onion. 2pcs if salmon sushi large slices of fresh tasting salmon more than sushi rice. I really like it. Drinks: We ordered chilled sake that came in a cool bucks with ice and a shot glass smooth and sweet. Music: We came on a Friday night so it was music like you were in a club lively speed I felt like I was eating fast because I was following the beat of the songs playing in the restaurant lol! Overall the food was so good worth the wait, the staff was friendly the place was clean and the service was a great experience. We will definitely come back here when we come to visit again!

I love this place! Fish is always very fresh -- and they serve everything. I specifically loved the fatty tuna, which is noticably better than other places in the same price point. Seating is also going to be a wait, but once seated the staff is very friendly and attentive. I love the Japanese design. The only thing is I would say you will probably spend $50/person (more than what is advertised on yelp and google) due to portion size! Would eat here again!

This food is delicious. The place is nice and the service is great. Does that hit all the things you look for? Well how about I add the price is reasonable too? I loved the food here. It's fresh and it's creative. Also it does get busy, I hear on weekends you can wait 1-2 hours. We came on a Tuesday night and the place was packed but we got seated in 15 minutes.

Fun place to get sushi with friends! Because the rolls come in half sizes, you get to try a bigger variety of rolls. Staff has always been friendly each time I visited. I would recommend this place if you're looking for sushi after a day at South Coast Plaza

tl,dr: good sushi. Expensive due to à-la-carte, no AYCE option. Likes: + Yummy sushi variety. Get your value in the sashimi, then fill yourself with the rolls. All variety in flavor and texture. + When my two sashimi orders came out, the waiter politely identified each one aloud to me, so I know what I'm eating. I appreciate that touch of classiness. + Absolutely delightful interior decor. Aesthetic decorations and backdrop setup. Completely belies the outer vicinity's mundane vibe. + Ample parking. + I like their Yelp check-in offer for a free soda. Non-likes: - At the $40 range, I start expecting AYCE. I left the restaurant still quite hungry. - Needless to say, expensive. - When the check came, the waitress waited beside me to complete the whole payment process. I prefer if she left the check machine there so I can choose the tip and receipt option at my own pace and not feel hurried cuz I know the waitress is busy and needs to tend to other tables. Tip: Yelp check-in for a free drink. They say free soda can, but if you're caffeine-sensitive, you can opt for a club soda (non-caffeinated) or a lemonade can. I had: $11.50 Madai (Japanese snapper) sashimi + $11.50 Salmon sashimi + $7.50 Fire island roll + $7.50 Baby lobster (crawfish) roll = $40.98 for party of 1.

Good portion of food and freshness for the price. The flavor was pretty good on all the rolls and miso soup. The wait was long for a Monday evening but honestly it was worth the 40min wait. Parking is very available and free. The ambience was okay. Music was a little loud. It was difficult to have a conversation without having to shout pretty much. So that made it uncomfortable. The service was great. Waitress was friendly and fast with service.

I came mid afternoon on a Saturday and there was no wait. It's a small place and I heard the restaurant can get very busy so this was a nice surprise. We were seated quickly and had friendly efficient service. The restaurant itself was clean, modern, and had a slightly darker ambience. We ordered a few dishes and a bottle of sake. The vegetable tempura was perfectly battered and not greasy. I love that one of them was a shishito pepper! The chicken karaage was juicy, tender and cut in smaller pieces than how it's usually served in other places which makes it easier to eat. We also had the cucumber salad which was tossed in a sweet rice vinegar dressing. It was good but had too much dressing for my liking - too sweet. For sushi, I recommend the yellowtail - both the traditional sashimi and the new style served with ponzu. The blue fin sashimi was also melt in your mouth yum. The new style blue fin has a slight smoky flavor and would have been good for me if it wasn't for the sauce which was too over powering for my taste. I like a lighter, cleaner flavor for sashimi. I will definitely return to try other dishes and maybe get a beer next time! (Btw, they only serve large bottles of beer.) Other notes: There is a parking lot but I can see it being full at busy times. Also you can go on the Yelp waitlist.

Eat's Sushi is a quirky name, but absolutely a gem of a sushi place and great in quality. I happened upon this place because my friend and I went to grab coffee at the Anti Lab area, and we both were craving sushi for a second lunch. *cue Hobbit themesong*. I loved the sushi here so much because the quality is fresh and the food is delicious. Loved the food so much that I took a family member back for a second time within the following week. There can be a wait time depending on when you go. When my friend and I went, we put our name on the waitlist and waited for 30 minutes for two people. The second time I went with a family member and there was no wait, so we were seated immediately. Service is wonderful from the two times I went, and I believe it's because it's Lisa who was our server. She's incredibly kind and warm, making our experience at this restaurant even more welcoming. The second time when I went with a family member, my family member is special needs, and Lisa was so accommodating in helping make this experience just as comfortable for my family member. The décor was also adorable. I think the way they utilize the space is amazing for what they have to work with. The food truly was delicious, and service was great. I highly recommend their miso soup, Black Spider Roll, Caliente Roll, and the Baked Scallop rolls. The rolls were tasty, flavorful, and so fresh. Would 10/10 recommend.

Eat's Sushi in Costa Mesa is a pretty nice spot that for sure is very busy. At 5:00 pm they opened for dinner and I arrived there at 5:15 pm and took one of the two last tables that they had. They also have a lunch hour. The inside is small but super cute with decorated walls that look kike you are in Japan. I overordered a bunch of items here but everything was so tasty and enjoyable. My favorites were the salmon collar, scallop sashimi, and ankimo. They have cooked items as well as raw items. You can order sashimi pieces and also sushi rolls and hand rolls. Everything came out quickly and tasty!

This was such a great find! Super affordable, fresh, quality fish. We ordered a bunch of things - japanese snapper (new style madai) seasoned with white truffle oil, yuzu, lemon, and black truffle salt & several nigiris (salmon, yellowtail, salmon egg, toro, pepper bluefin tuna, pepper salmon, egg, seared jumbo scallop. Each piece was around $2.50 - $4.95. We also ordered some hand rolls - the spicy salmon and spicy scallop. Delish! Our bill came out to around $87ish bucks (not including tip) for everything we ordered! My favorites were the pepper bluefin tuna, pepper salmon, and toro! The only thing I probably wouldn't get again is the seared jumbo scallop. Otherwise, everything was delicious! You rarely find fresh fish for this price point. We will definitely be back. Make sure to put your name on the waitlist ahead of time on Yelp!
